1. Can I participate in a simple way as an individual?
Yes. Take the challenge on the day with the 'challenge pack' from Rendezvous shop and see how well you do. You can choose whether you prefer to make the challenge the theme of your day, or instead, you go about your day finding out how green you can make it while doing what you want or need to.
2. Do I/We need to reach the finale event in order to complete the challenge?
No. All participants and their friends will be very welcome at the finale event (from 7pm at the Gloucester Docks) but you will still get a cerificate for your level of award by submitting your details to Rendezvous by 31st July 2008.
3. Must I (and my group) raise donations from my chosen sponsors?
You can greatly help Rendezvous promote green transport in Gloucestershire by raising a small amount from friends using the sponsor form, as is commonly done on many charity events. However, it is just as important to use this to spread the word and get others to contribute their support as is the money you collect to donate. It is not mandatory to raise sponsorship funds and you will still get your certificate regardless.
4. Can I also raise money for my own chosen charity?
Definitely. We ask that you split the money raised by sponsoring 50/50 between Rendezvous and your nominated charity- which you enter on your sponsor form.
5. What if I want to do the challenge, but am not free on the day to do it?
Definitely still sign up for and do the challenge. Choose your day and with a friend or friends carry out the challenge (no later than by midnight 29th June). You can still apply for your certificate- but cannot achieve the level of Green Guru except on June 28th.
6. How cane I keep myself safe?
This is a very important point that is always very relevany whenever you travel. You must do everything you normally do to keep safe and obey all the rules of the road, footpath, rail, river, canal etc.
Unfortunately, Rendezvous cannot provide any liabilty for your travel which remains the reponsibility of transport companies you use. Be certain to learn how to keep safe- espedially if you are using any unfamiliar means of transport. Do not take risks nor go beyond what you are comfortable doing. Be sure that you know and follow the highway code countryside code etc.
It is much better to take the challenge more than once, getting familiar with different aspects in comfortable stages, than to go all out and over stretch yourself.
7. Can I join one of the seven led groups on the day?
Yes, definitely. This is the easiest way to take the challenge. Sign up for the challenge. Then choose which led group you want to join (the leaders will provide details in the 'Challenge Binder' at Rendezvous shop. Arrange with the leader by phone or via the Rendezvous shop where to meet the group.
8. Can I sign up on my own then add participants to my group later?
Definitely. Please keep a copy of your application form with your name as the first entry. You can send or bring in a copy of the form with names added and payment for the extra entrants. If you want an extra Challenge Pack, it will cost £1 in the shop or £1.50 by post.
